FAQs
We are part of the Thomas Armstrong Group
TETRiS® is a unique patented thermal insulation floor system which is manufacturing from an ultra-high compressive strength extruded polystyrene, making each insulation block lightweight and robust.
Made from 100% recyclable material, this insulated floor solution is constructed using lightweight T-shaped insulated polystyrene infill blocks which sit on and fit in-between ACP (Concrete) Ltd’s prestressed concrete floor beams. The durability of the insulation blocks means they can withstand foot traffic during the build process.
The Cellecta TETRiS® insulation blocks have a 75mm upper section which sit onto the floor beams, providing a constant design level while the lower section is variable and fits in-between the beams. This unique design makes valuable use of what is otherwise wasted space between the concrete beams to provide a fast and economical thermal floor solution which eliminates any cold bridging areas (also known as thermal bridges). A concrete screed is then placed over the composite flooring to provide a durable concrete surface associated with suspended concrete flooring.
TETRiS® Thermal Insulation Floor System is also designed to provide high U-value requirements at ground floor level and to achieve performance standards required under Approved Document Part-L of the Building Regulations and has an A+ Green Guide rating.

High Performance at Low Cost
At ACP (Concrete) Ltd, our prestressed floor beams are manufactured offsite in controlled factory environment conditions to recognised industry standards (EC2),
Wet cast from high quality steel moulds using quality assured engineering grade concrete (60 N/mm²), guarantees the quality and performance of all our prestressed concrete flooring products. It also enables us to supply high performance concrete floor beams at low cost. As prestressed floor beams are designed to span further it also reduces the foundation costs.
Available as supply only or supply and install, all our concrete floor beams are delivered nationwide from our factories in Workington, Cumbria and Manchester.
Fast and Simple Installation
TETRiS® is a made from an ultra-high compressive strength extruded polystyrene, making each insulation block lightweight and robust. This popular thermal concrete floor has a simple and fast installation which produces a structural ground floor in fraction of the time when compare to beam and block floor construction.
Our beam and insulation floor system also offers savings in both time and cost at ground floor level compared with other flooring systems by minimizing groundworks.
The suspended floor system offers the potential to minimise excavations, particularly beneficial where excavated material must be removed from site, therefore, reducing your project timescales and saving you money.
Weather independent
The installation of beam and block floors is generally weather independent, reducing site delays and ensuring construction schedule is maintained.
Immediate safe floor and working area
With the easy installation, the TETRiS® insulation blocks and prestressed concrete floor beams can quickly provide a safe and durable platform as a base to continue further construction work if required..
Sustainability
The high thermal mass inherent with prestressed concrete floor construction has benefits for the finished buildings energy consumption. Prestressed concrete flooring also exhibits excellent noise reduction
Suitable for Underfloor Heating systems
Concrete beam and block floors are suitable for underfloor heating systems providing a high thermal mass in addition to the benefits of a concrete floor solution.
Looking for an alternative solution?
An alternative thermal solution to TETRiS® is Stylite, T-Beam Suspended Floor Insulation.
This insulated floor solution is construction using 100% recyclable, expanded, lightweight polystyrene infill panels which are profile cut to suit any concrete beam design.
The tightly fitted panel ‘wrap’ in-between and beneath each of ACP (Concrete) Ltd’s prestressed concrete floor beams.

Why incorporating insulation in-between the concrete prestressed floor beams of a suspended concrete floor? - Part 1
Incorporating insulation in-between the concrete precast floor beams of a suspended concrete floor is essential if you are looking for a high thermal performance and eco-friendly flooring solution.
The most popular solution is using our prestressed concrete beam and insulation floor system, where the floor precast concrete slabs/blocks are replaced with the insulation blocks or panels providing an instance improvement to high thermal performance and U-values. This is an alternative solution to our concrete block and beam floors which has a completely open conductive base giving no thermal protection under the floor.
Why incorporating insulation in-between the concrete prestressed floor beams of a suspended concrete floor? - Part 2
Prestressed concrete beam and insulation floor systems enhances the thermal and structural properties of the suspended floor by reducing any potential cold bridging areas (also known as thermal bridges) which is particularly beneficial in the construction of residential housing.
ACP (Concrete) Ltd’s prestressed concrete beam and insulation floor system has a simple and fast installation which reduces the time spent on-site, saving you both time and money. The installation is also generally weather independent which reduces site delays and ensuring the construction programme is maintained.
At ACP (Concrete) Ltd, we offer 2 standard depths of concrete floor beams 150mm and 215mm which are designed and manufactured to Eurocode 2 industry standards and are all CE marked.
